Immediate Actions (0-30 seconds):
  1. Direct student evacuation - “Fire alarm! Everyone line up at the door now!”
  2. Grab emergency folder - Contains class roster and emergency supplies
  3. Turn off lights and close (don’t lock) classroom door
  4. Lead students to nearest exit using designated evacuation route
  5. Maintain group cohesion - keep students together as a unit
During Evacuation (30 seconds - 5 minutes): 6. Guide students efficiently - walk quickly but don’t allow running 7. Assist students with special needs - mobility, hearing, vision impairments 8. Keep accurate count of students throughout evacuation 9. Communicate problems to other staff via radio if available 10. Be the last to exit your assigned area after ensuring all students are out At Assembly Point (5+ minutes): 11. Take attendance immediately using class roster 12. Report missing students to emergency coordinator immediately 13. Keep students organized and calm in designated area 14. Await further instructions - do not dismiss students without authorization

Lockdown Procedures

Staff Lockdown Protocol:
Remember: During lockdown, your primary goal is to make your area invisible and inaccessible while keeping everyone calm and quiet.
Immediate Securing (0-60 seconds):
  1. Lock classroom door immediately and engage all available locks
  2. Turn off lights and close all blinds or window coverings
  3. Move students away from doors and windows to safest area
  4. Barricade door if possible using desks, chairs, or other furniture
  5. Take silent attendance - know who is in your care
Maintaining Security (Duration of lockdown): 6. Keep everyone quiet - no talking, whispering, or unnecessary movement 7. Monitor students for signs of panic or medical issues 8. Stay alert for official communications and instructions 9. Be prepared to evacuate if instructed by law enforcement 10. Maintain lockdown until official all-clear is given Communication During Lockdown: 11. Monitor radio/communication systems for official updates 12. Report emergencies only - injuries, medical issues, immediate threats 13. Do not respond to unknown voices claiming to be police 14.
